Why must life be so cruel? My cat Cleo, who I've had since I was 5 years old and moved into this house, has a tumor. Don't know much more about what's going on, other than the fact that she needs to be put to rest.

Nobody here even told me. I knew she was supposed to go to the vet yesterday and today but my grandma didn't take her because she feels bad.

I feel so sad right now.

COACHELLA [day one]

How amazing was it? Unbelievably amazing. Tiring, but amazing.

Friday, I can only describe with one word; Interpol.

Yeah, still haven't recovered from that amazing performance. Getting to hear three of the new tracks live was pretty good. I gotta admit, Pioneer to the Falls (the track they opened with) grew on me quick. It's amazingly, and reminds me of their darker sounds. Sort of like an Untitled, but with a lot more to it. Mammoth, is simply amazing. Paul's vocals have never sounded so beautiful. & of course, there's been all the talk of their first single, The Heinrich Maneuver. At first, it was my least favorite of the three. But after listening over and over and again, I find myself singing it out loud at random times throughout the day. I'm not going to lie, I am obsessed with this one. It's just like how I was with Slow Hands. Ha ha ha.

Overall, I'm amazed by the new Interpol material that I've heard. I couldn't ask for any more. I have a feeling that it might be way up there with Turn On The Bright Lights (Interpol's first album), if not better.

Back to Coachella. We got there pretty early despite the fact that we sort of got lost once we hit the city. For the first day, it was Stephanie, Abraham, Marie, and I. We were give a ride by Stephanie's mother. We got there about two hours before the entire doors opened, so we just hung out in line.& of course, went off taking pictures.

We got in, and immediately headed to buy water! Ha ha. We also headed over to the merch section and I bought some shirts. We then headed over to the Sahara, but of course took our time to enjoy the arts scattered through the festival.

Each one of those poles had two buttons which you'd press and would make a sound. It all sounded like an organ. At night, It'd light up.

We eventually got over to the Sahara tent, don't even know for what though. Hung out there for a while. Then made our way to the Main Stage. But not before taking pictures in the Sahara.

We then left the Sahara to go eat. Then made our way to the Main Stage and got there at about 1:30.

After waiting a short 30 minutes, the music began.

The first group up was Flosstradamus featuring Kid Sister.

To keep it simple, a dj set. Lots of mixing of some old school hip-hop, with some good electronica and catchy stuff. It was a great way of getting the day started. Kid Sister provided vocals for the second half of their set. She basically just dubbed famous songs with her own stuff. But their was also some original material. They closed but left an impact on the Main Stage. It's hard to get a crowd moving in hundred degree weather, but that's exactly what they did.

Next up was Brother Ali. I've been a fan of his for quite some time now and had heard some of his stuff before.

Brother Ali delivered a show filled with intense hard hitting vocals, plenty of good beats, and a soundtrack that just made you feel like jumping. His stories and explanations of songs made the crowd enjoy the show a bit more. It was a pretty good set, from Brother Ali.

Next up was the ridiculously flamboyant leader Perry Farell's new project, Satellite Party.

No matter how much I enjoyed making fun of the guy, Perry Farell and his group actually put on a good show. Wait, what? Yeah, aside from all the crazy on stage dancing and that one asian woman that was just showing off WAY too much, the music was good. Also, they delivered some stuff from some of Perry's other bands, so that had the crowd moving.

Silversun Pickups took over after Satellite Party's set.

Silversun Pickups are your typical 'feel good' band. Their powerful guitar riffs and catchy catchy catchy bass riffs are what make these guys extremely enjoyable to listen to. While all of this was good, the lead vocalist really needs to relax on the screaming. It seemed like during certain parts, he'd scream lines as if his life was depending on it, which would drive the songs off a bit for me. But over than that, it was a surprisingly good set.

Arctic Monkeys. What's there to say about them?

How about, they sure can shred? Delivering their songs twice as fast during their set, Arctic Monkeys delivered an amazingly good a set. The upbeat dance-punk music being delivered from their guitars and drum beats had almost all of the crowd having a good time. Although the band themselves seemed a bit down at the fact that there wasn't much response after songs, that didn't stop them from providing a good show.

And now, we take a break! With JAMC.

The Jesus and Mary Chain were one of the big talks of the festival. Their performance delivered everything I expected, a bit of boredom. The music was nice and relaxing, but with almost no movement at all from the band members, I might as well just listen to one of their albums and just picture them dancing in my head. Don't get me wrong, they did provide a few surprises. Such as, SCARLETT JOHANSSON?!

Providing back up vocals for the song, Just Like Honey, Scarlett Johansson brought herself on stage during their set. Providing nothing more than the lines "just like honey..." over and over again, her presence shocked most audience members. I think I might have even seen Abraham oogling her.

Then after their set, followed an hour break filled with much anticipation for the next band. Yes that's right, Interpol.

Theres never enough words in the world to describe how amazing their performances are. Opening up with a song off the upcoming album, Interpol's set provided everything I could ask for. Except at least 10 songs! The unbelievably short set made me miss them even more than I already had. But I have to admit, Daniel's riffs have never sounded so good, Sam's drums have never produced so much rhythm, Paul's vocals have never sounded so beautiful, and of course, Carlos has never been so, you know, Carlos.

After their set, we managed to actually get out of the crowd from the front all the way to back. Not without losing Steph of course! Grr. Abe and Marie stayed to catch Bjork's set. I eventually met up with Steph again, we met at the alien. We then made our way to the Sahara one last time for the day.

Having no idea who's performing, we walk in to be surprised by the last song of Faithless' set! We get a good spot, and of course, I take pictures.

From what I got to hear, Faithless' set provided a very jumpy enviroment. The ending was as dynamic as could be.

We then left, and listened to Evil Nine's set from outside during a much needed rest.

We then went to get a slice of pizza and left the venue. We met up with Abe and Marie outside and then walked over 2 miles to meet up with my dad! Ended up getting home at 4 in the morning, and that was the end, of day one.

Considering Coachella is just over to weeks away, I need a camera for the rent. I'm already taking 3 but if anyone out there with a digital SLR would lend one to me for about 4 days, I'd be willing to rent it for about $50-$75.

Rage Against the Machine will reunite for Coachella
Red Hot Chili Peppers and Björk also top the bill for the three-day music festival.

Rage Against the Machine, the seminal L.A. band that made heavy music into political manifesto, will reunite after a seven-year lull for one show as the headliners at the 2007 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

Sources say Rage, which played the main stage at the first Coachella in 1999, will be joined by other familiar faces for the eighth edition of the festival, which covers three days this year and begins April 27: Red Hot Chili Peppers, which headlined in 2003, are back, as is Björk, who topped the bill in 2002.

Organizers were mum this weekend and it was not clear which day Rage or the other acts were slotted to play; that announcement is expected in the next few days. Other acts expected in the eclectic lineup: Arcade Fire, Interpol, Willie Nelson, the Roots, Manu Chao, the Decemberists, Arctic Monkeys, Sonic Youth, Crowded House, Air, Tiësto and Kings of Leon.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, via Ticketmaster. Three-day passes will cost about $250 and there will be a limited number of single-day passes available.

The headliners are not novel, but they are potent. The Peppers are up for their first best album Grammy right now, and Björk remains a mesmerizing figure to fans of avant pop. But in Southern California rock circles, there is very little that could compete with the excitement of a Rage Against the Machine reunion. The quartet's hybrid of funk, rap, metal and leftist ideology was as subtle as a Molotov cocktail; in the 1990s, its aggro-anthems made it the only band that mattered to a fan base that included East L.A. protest kids as well as those in Hollywood punk circles, college dorms and mainstream rock festival mosh pits, where politics were secondary to the group's feral energy.

The band is vocalist Zack de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk. Their split came amid rumors of bad blood between De la Rocha and his mates, who went on to work with Chris Cornell in Audioslave. However, Morello and De la Rocha appeared together at a 2005 rally for the urban farmers of a South Los Angeles community garden.
